Nüshu is a syllabic phonetic script of the local dialect of Chinese specifically used by women
in Jiangyong, Hunan Province. Nüshu works are written on elaborately made cloth-bound handwritten books (wedding gifts), fan surfaces, handkerchiefs and pieces of paper, respectively called "Sanzhao Books", "Song Fans", "Handkerchief Books" and "Paper Texts". Some are embroidered on handkerchiefs and are called "Embroidered Words".Women around the world still face numerous challenges in the workplace.
Although an increasing number of women have entered the workforce and become corporate executives, scientists, and so on, issues such as gender discrimination, wage gaps, and unequal promotion opportunities persist. According to data from the International Labour Organization, the average global wage for women is approximately 20% lower than that of men. This disparity is even more pronounced in high-skilled industries such as technology and finance. If a woman is spiritually impoverished, obsessed with being loved, and overly eager for recognition, no matter how many abilities and resources she possesses, it is very difficult for her to escape from the real predicament. When she places her hope on others, she can only choose to please and wait, but when she places her hope in herself, she will be able to run freely.
Therefore, I would like to say, and must say: "Feminism is the idea that even the weak can be respected."
The reason why I chose to design with the elements of high heels, underwear and bags is that these three symbols precisely pierced through the thousand-year predicament of women being objectified and disciplined.
