| This cultural and creative design project Hui Cun Yun: Rhyme of Gangtou Village falls under the category of Visual Communication Design, responding to the competition theme "The New Real" by exploring the reshaping of authentic forms through human-machine co-creation while preserving the irreplicable essence of handcraft and local culture. Rooted in the authentic Lingnan rural heritage of Gangtou Village in Guangzhou, the work extracts iconic local visual symbols including lion dance, ancient ancestral halls, Lianxin Bridge, lotus flowers, native birds and traditional auspicious patterns collected during on-site field research. The creative process integrates AI algorithmic assistance and irreplaceable handcrafted expression: AI is employed to simulate the growth logic of natural flowers and leaves, generate iterative symmetrical branch patterns, and rapidly test multiple color palettes to establish the foundational visual framework; subsequently, the entire design undergoes meticulous hand-drawn refinement, including manual line carving, subjective color adjustment, and the infusion of personal emotional experiences from field visits, retaining unique hand-drawn textures, brushstroke rhythms and localized humanistic memories that cannot be replicated by AI. The final output encompasses three core modules: thematic posters, series illustrations and circular patterns, which are further applied to a diverse range of sustainable cultural and creative products including framed art, throw pillows, refrigerator magnets, postcards, silk scarves and keychains. By bridging traditional Lingnan cultural context and contemporary youth aesthetics, the project transforms localized rural memories into universally accessible visual language, achieving the innovative transformation and daily dissemination of traditional culture. This work demonstrates that the "new real" in the digital age lies neither in pure virtual synthesis nor in isolated traditional handcraft, but in the dynamic tension and organic integration of AI technological empowerment and irreplicable handcrafted local authenticity, offering a unique interpretation of authentic expression in the era of artificial intelligence. |
