| The concept of the "middle 500 meters" evolved from the "initial 500 meters" proposed by Xiang Biao. It refers to using the narrative effect of historical districts as the middle 500 meters to reconstruct people's "nearby", increase interpersonal communication, and enable people to see things in the place. This design employs measures such as setting up corridors, opening up ground-floor shops, adding courtyards, rationally arranging windows on the second floor to frame views, and adding spiral staircases to actively control people's activities and increase their dwell time. It generates the historical narratives of the Puppet Emperor's Palace and Guangfu Road Commercial Street within the place, so that people no longer engage in hurried, stop-and-go consumption. Instead, by seeing the Puppet-era architecture and feeling the atmospere of Guagfu Road, they can construct their own "nearby", enhance interpersonal communication, strengthen individual sense of reality, and perceive the historical heritage and culture of the historical district. |
