ASEAN-China Design Convergence Summit 2025 to Kick Off Soon!

Jointly organized by Asia Design Week and Design Asia Collective, the ASEAN-China Design Convergence Summit 2025will be held at Sunway College Jeffrey Cheah Hall, Malaysia, from May 9 to 11.

Supported by Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), and co-supported by Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Malaysia Design Council (MRM), Malaysian Graphic Design Association, and Sunway College and Stylo,  Fashion Design Technology Hub, the summit brings together designers, institutions, and cultural leaders from China and ASEAN countries for a vibrant dialogue across borders.

Empowering the 2025 ASEAN Summit: Toward a Shared Future in Regional Design

The year 2025 marks an important milestone as Malaysia assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship. This Design Convergence Summit, themed “Synthesis,” aims to showcase the achievements of collaboration between China and ASEAN in the fields of design, culture, education, and industry. Through this summit, we hope to further strengthen design exchange between ASEAN countries and China—our long-standing partner—and contribute design-driven momentum to the broader ASEAN Summit.

The summit is more than a design gathering — it’s a dynamic platform for multilateral cultural exchange, regional innovation, and nurturing young creative talent.

ASEAN-CHINA DESIGNCONVERGENCE COMPETITION

A total of 870 entries were received for the ASEAN-China Design Convergence Competition, spanning disciplines such as graphic design, product design, spatial design, digital media, and fashion. These submissions reflect the immense creative potential of young talents across the region and the richness of cross-cultural inspiration.

The competition jury is composed of design experts from China and Malaysia, including distinguished university professors, leading industry figures, and jurors of international design awards. They will evaluate the entries based on criteria such as creativity, cultural integration, and social impact.

A selection of winning entries will be showcased at Sunway College, featuring reinterpretations of traditional culture, eco-conscious design, and interactive digital art—highlighting shared visions of future lifestyles by young designers from ASEAN and China.
