The evaluation will consist of two rounds. In each round, works will be assessed based on criteria such as artistic expression, level of innovation, social value, and commercial potential across different categories. The final awards will be determined by calculating the average scores.

Award Process
The first phase of the competition runs until June 5, 2026, with submissions, preliminary and final expert reviews, and award determination completed by July. Winners are announced on August 1, certificates are issued online, and outstanding works are showcased in a year-long touring exhibition from September 2026 to September 2027, culminating in a tentative award ceremony in Shenzhen. Phase two will launch during the September exhibition.

The Asian Vanguard Art and Design Award (AVADA) offers a comprehensive platform for global exposure and professional development. Outstanding Organizing Institution Award
Awarded to institutions that apply and receive approval from the organizing committee to host touring lectures and exhibitions. The responsible representatives of these institutions will receive the title of Co-Curator.

Outstanding Media Partner Award
Presented to media organizations that actively promote the award, including publicity for calls for entries and coverage of winning works.

Outstanding Co-Curator Award
Presented to the responsible individuals of institutions involved in hosting touring exhibitions.

Certificate Benefits
Award winners will receive a downloadable certificate jointly issued and officially endorsed by Asia Design Week and all co-organizing institutions. (The certificate will be provided in electronic format with anti-counterfeiting features.)

Offline Touring Exhibition
Outstanding award-winning works will be selected for global touring exhibitions and showcased in collaboration with strategic partners. In 2026, the tour is planned to cover nearly 15 countries/regions across Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas, including Mainland China, Macao (China), Taiwan (China), Italy, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, Mongolia, Russia, India, the United Arab Emirates (Dubai + Sharjah), Egypt, the United Kingdom, and more. (Selection of exhibited works will be based on the specific themes and requirements of each partner institution.)

Online Exhibition
In addition to promotion across Asia Design Week’s official social media channels and partner platforms, all award-winning works will be showcased on the official Asia Design Week website.

Emerging Designer & Artist Support
Outstanding emerging artists and designers will receive not only exhibition opportunities but also international media interviews and coverage. Based on participants’ preferences, opportunities will be provided for: Transformation of results, including art auctions and design commercialization Collaborative projects Co-branded or original derivative product development based on artworks

Publication Opportunities
Selected outstanding works will be recommended for publication in Design and Art Studies, China Art & Design Yearbook, and Asian Emerging Design Yearbook, among others.

Media Promotion & Communication Services
Promotion will be carried out through Asia Design Week’s official website and four major domestic and international social media platforms, including Xiaohongshu. Additional promotion will be supported through strategic partners such as journals, magazines, and media/news networks. All award-winning works will be authorized by the organizing committee to use the official “Asian Vanguard Art and Design Award (AVADA)” logo (applicable to winners from 2025 onward) in exhibitions, publicity, publications, and subsequent promotions—highlighting their prestigious recognition and enhancing professional credibility and global visibility.

Starting from 2025 award winners, recipients will be invited to serve as jurors or expert advisors in future competitions and events organized by Asia Design Week. (In 2026, selected winners of the 2025 Asian Vanguard Art and Design Award will be invited to join the jury panel.)

Pradyumna Vyas

Final Jury

Chairman and General Manager of Hengyuanxiang (Group) Co., Ltd., and MBA graduate of Peking University. He has long been engaged in national brand strategy and brand culture research, organizing and participating in major research initiatives on national branding, cultural soft power, and brand innovation methodologies. He has also led and advanced multiple key national and Shanghai-level R&D projects, including ultra-fine wool technologies, functional textile materials, natural dye applications, and digital brand management. He currently serves as Chairman of the Presidium of the China Federation of Industrial Economics, Vice President of the China Wool Textile Industry Association, Council Member of the China Fashion Color Association, Executive Vice President of the Design Anthropology Committee of the Chinese Society of Art Anthropology, and holds additional roles in national sports, cultural heritage, and industry organizations. He also serves as an academic and industry mentor at leading institutions including Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beijing Sport University, and the Communication University of China.

Wu Qiong

Final Jury

Dean, Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University. Professor Wu Qiong is a leading scholar and practitioner in industrial design and interaction design, with extensive expertise in data- and intelligence-driven service design, as well as hybrid physical–digital experience design. She currently serves as Dean of the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University and Deputy Dean of the Tsinghua–Tsingshang Joint Institute for Smart Scene Innovation Design. She holds several prominent academic and professional roles, including Deputy Director of the Information & Interaction Design Committee of the China Industrial Design Association, Secretary-General of the Industrial Design Art Committee of the China Artists Association, and Director of the Design Committee of the Beijing Cross-Disciplinary Society. She is also an editorial board member of Design Studies and serves as a jury member for the international Good Design Award. Professor Wu has led numerous national-level research and design projects, published widely in leading academic journals and international conferences, and collaborated with globally renowned organizations such as Huawei, Tencent, Intel, Siemens, and Boeing. Her work has been exhibited internationally and has received multiple prestigious honors, including the Red Dot Design Award, MUSE Design Award (Gold), as well as national-level awards for teaching and research excellence.

Jr Neville Songwe

Final Jury

Jr Neville Songwe is Chair of Industrial Design at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), a position he has held since 2025, following his tenure as Professor of Industrial Design from 2017. He previously served as a lecturer at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). He holds a Master of Industrial Design (M.I.D.) from RISD and a diploma in industrial design and visual communication from Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche (ISIA). Alongside his academic career, he has extensive professional experience as Executive Director of Urban Ventures, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization focused on business mentorship and consulting, and as Founder and Principal of Joneso Design, where he specializes in product design, UX/UI, and digital design. He has also worked as an industrial and GUI designer at Curitel & Pantech in South Korea. His interdisciplinary practice spans design innovation, social design, and industry application, and he holds multiple U.S. utility patents granted by the USPTO, reflecting his contributions to design-driven technological innovation.
