This year, Asia Design Week, in partnership with the Hebei International Industrial Design Week, will grandly open from September 19 to 23, 2024. With the support of offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, and Seoul, the event will jointly create a design extravaganza. Centered on the core theme of “Integration and Innovation: Designing the Future,” the program will prominently feature the Asia Design Innovation Achievements Exhibition.

Located at the Xiong’an Green Building Exhibition Center (Xiong’an New Area, Hebei), the Asia Design Week exhibition area—an important partner of the Hebei International Industrial Design Week—actively responds to global trends in design innovation and the needs of industrial upgrading. It has carefully curated six major exhibition areas and programs: “Smart Ecosystem: A Sustainable Future,” “Art–Science Integration: Artificial Intelligence and Experimental Art,” “Tech-Driven Manufacturing: Innovative Product Design,” “2024 Asia Emerging Art and Design Competition (AVADC) Winning Works,” “Korea Art & Design Trends Exhibition,” and “Korea Design Day.” The exhibition will focus on breakthrough applications and cutting-edge explorations of innovative design in fields including artificial intelligence, digital art, intelligent manufacturing, creative industries, advanced materials, healthcare, and smart wearables—aiming to stimulate design innovation and empower the vigorous development of the design industry in Asia and worldwide.

We will delve into the cross-disciplinary integration of generative artificial intelligence and experimental art. Experts and artists from different fields will share their innovative works and practical experiences, demonstrating how to use artificial intelligence technology to break through the boundaries of traditional art and create unprecedented visual and sensory experiences.

Asia Design Week, together with AICC Lab of the Institute for Cultural Industries at Peking University, the Tsinghua University Student International Public Welfare Design Association, and the D&A Lab of the School of Innovation Design at the China Academy of Art, will jointly curate the “Artificial Intelligence and Experimental Art” Exhibition Area at the Asia Design Week venue at the Xiong’an Green Building Exhibition Center (Xiong’an New Area, Hebei), from September 19 to 22, 2024. The exhibition will explore the cross-disciplinary integration of generative artificial intelligence and experimental art. Experts and artists from diverse fields will share innovative works and practical experience, demonstrating how AI technologies can break through the boundaries of traditional art and create unprecedented visual and sensory experiences.

Focusing on the integration of sustainable design and advanced technology, this event explores how intelligent ecological design can drive an environmentally friendly future. Discussions cover topics such as environmentally friendly materials, renewable energy, and sustainable industrial transformation, showcasing how technology can empower ecological design and achieve harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.

...Korea Art and Design Trends Exhibition...

The Korea Art & Design Trends Exhibition is a comprehensive exhibition organized by Asia Design Week Korea. Three chairpersons—Joung-Hyung Cho, HU HONGWEI, and Dou Xiang—serve as the curators. Jointly initiated by Korean universities, enterprises, and artists, the exhibition aims to discuss the development trends of art and design in China and Korea.

In addition to introducing the basic information of the chairman and members of the Asian Design Week Korea region and exhibiting cutting-edge Korean design works, the exhibition area will also host many experts and scholars from the Korean business and academic communities.

The Korea Design Day program consists of two parts: keynote speeches and a roundtable discussion. It is hosted by the Hebei Industrial Design Innovation Center and jointly organized by the Asia Design Week Organizing Committee and the China Office of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP). The event focuses on forward-looking Korean design concepts, shares experience in using design to drive enterprise transformation and development, facilitates exchange and connection with local manufacturing enterprises in Hebei, and showcases the outstanding capabilities and creativity of Korean designers from a global perspective.

···2024 AVADC Winning Entries···

Amidst much anticipation, the results of the 2024 Asia Emerging Art and Design Competition have finally been announced. This year's competition brought together top designers, senior experts, professors, and distinguished scholars (as announced) from mainland China, Hong Kong, South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Egypt, and other countries and regions, collectively building an authoritative and impartial judging panel. The judges not only enjoy high reputations in their respective fields but also provided comprehensive and multi-faceted professional evaluations of the entries with their international perspectives and forward-looking insights.

This competition received 8,855 submissions from 43 countries and regions, with 8,055 being valid entries, 30% of which were in the professional category. Entries came not only from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, but also from Asian countries such as South Korea, Japan, and Singapore, as well as from European and African countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Australia, and Egypt, fully demonstrating the competition's international influence and appeal. The exhibition area will showcase some of the outstanding winning works; please look forward to seeing them on display!
