Invitation for Submissions:
Top 10 Events in Chinese Design Studies 2025
As the sun rises and sets, and the seasons cycle through, 2025 has quietly drawn to a close. Standing at the historic intersection where the "14th Five-Year Plan" concludes and the "15th Five-Year Plan" begins, we launch a call for proposals for the "Top 10 Events in Chinese Design Studies 2025" to the national design academia and industry.
In recent years, China has achieved remarkable accomplishments in various fields including economic construction, technological innovation, deepening reforms, opening-up, improvement of people's livelihoods, ecological civilization, national security, and national defense, laying a solid social and industrial foundation for the development of design studies. Looking ahead to the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, innovation-driven development, green and low-carbon transition, and intelligent transformation will become key themes. Industrial development will place greater emphasis on technological innovation, sustainability, and digitalization. Regional coordination and the construction of specialized industrial clusters will also be further deepened, propelling China's economy and society towards higher quality and more sustainable development.
At this important stage of connecting the past and the future, we invite design scholars, designers, educators, industry practitioners, and relevant institutions nationwide to jointly and recommend important events in the field of Chinese design studies in 2025. Proposals may cover (including but not limited to):
Major national and provincial/ministerial level design research projects and programs
Influential academic papers, monographs, and publications
Significant academic conferences, forums, and exhibitions
Developments and breakthroughs in academic journals
Landmark events in design education, industry integration, social innovation, etc.
Other matters that have significantly promoted the development of design studies
We will conduct a preliminary screening based on the representativeness, influence, innovation, and coverage of the proposals to determine the shortlisted events. Subsequently, an online public vote will be launched. The final results will be ranked according to the number of votes to select the Top 10 Events in Chinese Design Studies 2025. These will be simultaneously announced to the public in early February 2026 through platforms including Hunan Packaging, the Yuelu Reading Club, Design Studies Think Tank, Design Studies Theory, and the Junshi WeChat public account.
We look forward to your valuable insights, joining us in recording the trajectory of our times and jointly promoting the vigorous development of design studies!
