Co-organized Event | AI Design Empowers, Creating a Better Future – The 3rd China-ASEAN Industrial Design Week Opens in Nanning

Industrial design is a crucial cornerstone for developing new quality productive forces, playing a key role in leading technological innovation, improving product quality, and promoting industrial transformation and upgrading. To deepen the opening-up, exchange, and cooperation in the industrial design field of Guangxi, actively create an atmosphere where industrial design empowers industrial innovation and development, and promote the deep integration of industrial design and advanced manufacturing in Guangxi, the 3rd China-ASEAN Industrial Design Week was held in Nanning from September 18th to 21st, 2025.

This year's Design Week, as an investment and trade promotion activity of the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo, featured five main events including an opening ceremony and a release conference for industrial design resource matching and outstanding achievement transformation cases. With the theme "AI Design Empowers, Creating a Better Future," the event aimed to promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence and industrial design, building an international platform for high-level dialogue, resource matching, and achievement transformation. Chen Biao (Bureau Director-General level), Deputy Director of the International Economic and Technological Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Long Han, Member of the Party Leadership Group of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Party Secretary and Director of the Autonomous Region's Industrial Promotion and SME Service Center, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Yu Suihuai, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Northwestern Polytechnical University; Luo Wei, Assistant at the R&D General Institute of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd.; Ma Weizhe, Product Design Expert at the Design Center of Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group; Jin Tao, Deputy Director of the Industry-Education Integration Center of Beijing MIIT International; and Huang Zhen, Founder of Shenzhen Hooshi Artificial Intelligence Co., Ltd., delivered keynote speeches on topics such as intelligent manufacturing and design innovation, super BOM empowering power systems, and industrial design empowering enterprises to go global.

Experts, scholars, and enterprise representatives from within and outside the region gathered to engage in in-depth discussions on topics such as the relationship between intelligent manufacturing and design innovation, as well as the challenges and opportunities of AIGC empowering industrial applications. Focusing on the cutting-edge dynamics of innovative design and future industrial development directions in China and ASEAN countries, they analyzed industry trends and shared the latest research findings.

Experts believe that industrial design, as an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral innovation activity, is a crucial driver for regional economic synergy and industrial upgrading. The deep integration of artificial intelligence is bringing revolutionary changes. While AIGC technology can accelerate product iteration and reduce costs, challenges such as data security and talent shortages urgently need to be addressed collaboratively.

This Design Week emphasized the integration of theory and practice. On the afternoon of the same day, the Guangxi-ASEAN Industrial Design Supply-Demand Matching and Outstanding Design Achievement Transformation Case Release Conference was held. Strategic cooperation framework agreements were signed between design resource providers and industry-education integration demanders, covering areas such as industry-education integration, international talent cultivation, and design cooperation for "going global" into the ASEAN market. Concurrently, several industrial design achievement transformation projects were signed, including the promotion of the Yulin Fumian denim regional brand and the construction of an AI platform. A video showcasing outstanding cases of industrial design achievement transformation in Guangxi was also released.

It is understood that this Design Week event was jointly organized by the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the International Economic and Technological Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It was hosted by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region's Industrial Promotion and SME Service Center, Beijing MIIT International Technology Development Co., Ltd., and the Guangxi Industrial Design Association. Co-organizers included the Shenzhen Industrial Design Association, the China-ASEAN Economic and Trade Center, and Asia Design Week.

As Guangxi serves as the forefront and window for China's opening-up and cooperation with ASEAN, this Design Week not only highlighted its role as a bridgehead but also, through AI empowerment, helped local enterprises optimize their supply chains, explore the ASEAN market, and enhance the international influence of "Made in Guangxi."
