Notice on Holding the 2025 4th Hainan International Designer Competition

To implement the "Master Plan for the Construction of Hainan Free Trade Port", accelerate the development of Hainan International Design Island, continuously build a brand competition IP, and empower high-quality industrial development through design, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Hainan Province and the People's Government of Lingshui Li Autonomous County jointly organize the 2025 4th Hainan International Designer Competition. Relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:

   
Competition Objectives

The 2025 4th Hainan International Designer Competition focuses on "Digital Creative Design" with the theme "Digital Connects the World, Design Empowers Going Global". Closely following the mainline of deep integration between Hainan's characteristics and the digital economy, centering on the two core tasks of international narrative expression of local culture and digital creativity promoting industrial upgrading, the competition adopts a mode of "dual-track drive, competition-industry linkage, and integration of local and international elements" to promote the transformation of design and creative achievements into the real economy.

Digital Connects the World, Design Empowers Going Global

(2) Track Settings and Propositions

1. IP and Product Design Track: Using Hainan cultural elements as a reference, solicit design proposals for Hainan's distinctive cultural IPs,特色 products, brand visuals, creative packaging, and场景 experiences.

  • Proposition 1: Hainan Culture • Diverse Coexistence
    Extract characteristic cultural elements from Hainan's Li and Miao ethnic groups, aerospace, tropical海洋, Tanka, Dongpo, and others. Design visual patterns or IP images, as well as product or brand application proposals.

  • Proposition 2: Creative Packaging • Smart Manufacturing in Hainan
    Focus on the innovative upgrading of packaging for agricultural and sideline products, light manufacturing, tourism cultural and creative goods. Design solutions suitable for个性 customization and digital printing using green and sustainable concepts.

2. Digital and Interaction Design Track: Focus on scenarios such as the digital economy, cultural tourism experiences, duty-free consumption, and cultural出海. Solicit entries like digital creative content, mini-games, animation, digital humans, short video dramas, and digital promotional films.

  • Proposition 3: Digital-Physical Integration • Scenario Empowerment
    Create digital creative works with完整 narrative structures, visual expression, and interactivity using formats such as digital visual art, AR/VR content, mini-games, animation, digital humans, short dramas, and digital promotional films.

(3) Participation Requirements

  1. Eligibility
    Domestic and international enterprises, institutions, design agencies, designers, and design teams are eligible to participate.

  2. Scope of Submissions
    Entries include but are not limited to: design proposals for cultural IPs,特色 products, brand visuals, creative packaging, scene experiences; as well as digital creative works such as digital creative content, games, animation, digital humans, short video dramas, and digital promotional films.

  3. Important Notes
    Submitted works or proposals must comply with national industrial policies, relevant technical and standards regulations, and must not infringe upon others' intellectual property rights or involve other illegal activities. If a participant is found to have plagiarized or committed other infringements, the organizers reserve the right to disqualify them and report the matter.
    The same work or proposal can only be submitted by one entity, and the same entity may submit a maximum of 5 works or proposals. Participants must submit required materials such as work display boards and design descriptions as instructed.

(4) Participation Method

Participants must submit their materials through the competition's registration system (www.hainan-design.com) by 24:00 Beijing Time, September 5th.

  1. Registration Time
    Registration is open from July 10th to September 5th. There is no registration fee for this competition. However, participants are responsible for all expenses incurred during participation, such as the use of creative tools, carrier equipment, work logistics, intellectual property applications, and travel.

  2. Material Requirements

    (2) Work Description: Submit a description (max 500 words) covering the creative design concept, technical processes (or digital technologies used), application scenarios, and commercial or social value.
    (3) Related Materials

    • IP and Product Design Track: Submit main images of the work and scene display images, as well as electronic files such as videos illustrating the product design concept and display效果. Single image resolution no less than 300 dpi, file size no more than 5MB; video duration no more than 30 seconds, file size no more than 100MB.

    • Digital and Interaction Design Track: Submit a cover image for the work, work demonstration files, videos or sample reels, and operation guides (if any). Single image resolution no less than 300 dpi, file size no more than 5MB; video or sample reel resolution above 1920×1080, duration no more than 3 minutes, file size no more than 1GB.
      (4) Bonus Point Application

    • Competition Communication Bonus: Before each evaluation round begins, participants may submit完整 screenshots of positive content related to the competition activities and their own entries, along with proof of communication data, published on well-known domestic and international social media platforms such as WeChat Official Accounts/Video Channels, Little Red Book, Douyin, and TikTok.



Competition Evaluation


(1) Jury Experts

The competition's jury is composed of authoritative experts from fields such as design, digital creativity, brand marketing, and communication.

(2) Evaluation Process

Entry Compliance Review → Online Preliminary Evaluation → Online Publicity → Offline Final Evaluation.

(3) Evaluation Criteria

Adhering to the principle of connecting with local industrial needs, the competition aims to select and reward outstanding design projects suitable for scenarios such as Hainan's intangible cultural heritage revitalization, intelligent manufacturing, cultural tourism experiences, duty-free consumption, and cultural "going global". The evaluation criteria for each competition track are as follows:

1. IP and Product Design Track

  • Innovation: Design concept, aesthetic expression, and degree of integration with specific culture.

  • Technology Application: Use of digital tools and scenario adaptability.

  • Market Value: Controllability of implementation costs and potential for market cooperation.

  • Communication Effect: Content appeal and transmission of cultural and brand value.

2. Digital and Interaction Design Track

  • Narrative Quality: Complete narrative content, novel techniques, and appeal.

  • Production Quality: Finely crafted work, smooth application of technology.

  • Cultural Integration: Deep cultural exploration, natural integration of elements, resonating with the audience.

  • Commercial Scalability: Ability to empower scenarios such as the digital economy, cultural tourism experiences, duty-free consumption, and cultural "going global", with strong potential for implementation.

(4) Evaluation Bonus Points

To expand the influence of the competition, participants are encouraged to publish positive content related to the competition activities and their own entries on well-known domestic and international social media platforms, which may earn appropriate bonus points.

  1. Participants who proactively create and publish positive information about the competition or positive content related to their team's entry (excluding simple reposts) on well-known domestic and international social media platforms may be eligible for bonus points. If a single post achieves ≥5,000 reads and the total number of likes + comments + reposts for that post reaches ≥30, participants can submit relevant supporting materials before the start of each evaluation round. Upon review and approval, 3 bonus points will be awarded.

  2. A single work can receive bonus points only once. Bonus points are valid in both the preliminary and final evaluations.



Competition Awards Setup

The competition will feature 2 Gold Awards, 6 Silver Awards, 12 Bronze Awards, 20 Excellence Awards, and 20 Creative Design Awards (finalist awards, not participating in the final evaluation defense). There will be a total of 60 awards, with a combined prize pool of 400,000 RMB.

Competition Intellectual Property

(1) Competition Intellectual Property

The intellectual property rights of the competition logo and key visuals belong to the organizers. Participants may use the competition logo, graphics, and the phrase "2025 4th Hainan International Designer Competition" for positive promotion of the event or their entries. Competition winners are granted the free right to use the competition logo for the promotion and marketing of their award-winning works.

(2) Intellectual Property of Entries

All intellectual property rights of the submitted works belong to the original authors. The organizers and hosts have the right of优先 cooperation with the original authors and may freely use the logos and names of participating enterprises, as well as images, videos, and text related to the entries, for competition-related publicity and reporting.
